Dear Friends of HUNTSVILLE SOUTH:
Another protest against City Schools Superintendent Casey Wardynski is planned for tomorrow, Thursday October 16th, prior to the School Board meeting. While not everyone agrees with all decisions that have been made during Su...perintendent Wardynski’s term as Superintendent, what we do know is that the city school system is in a better condition and position now then it was prior to his hiring. The financial condition has totally improved going from approximately $20 million in the red and a threat of takeover by the State to a current positive cash flow. New schools are being built to replace older, aging schools in south Huntsville and in north Huntsville (and a 9th grade academy at Huntsville High) which will give these students a state of the art facility and campus. Dr. Wardynski has lead the charge to remove Huntsville City Schools from the federal government’s grasp of 40 years in the making of the desegregation suit. Our students are equipped with the latest technology. The future of our school system and our students look bright.
We believe the current protests and calling for Dr. Wardynski’s resignation is unwarranted and detrimental to our school system and our students. Unfortunately, it only takes a small number of disgruntled to attract the media coverage. We want to let you know that there will be a rally to support Dr. Wardynski and the School Board tomorrow, Thursday October 16th at 4:30 pm at the Anne Mertz Center. We hope you will attend and show your support for our school system and our students.
