HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Want to weigh in on transportation projects in Huntsville?
Now is your chance to tell the City what you think about big work planned for state and federal highways, like Interstate 565 and Memorial Parkway.Huntsville city planners are doing their homework and seeking feedback on projects for the most heavily traveled roads- state and federal highways.

The 2018 Public Participation Plan for Transportation Planning is now available for public comment. It lets the community know about what's in the pipeline and it allows the city to tell the state and the feds how they're engaging the community in order get input on the projects.
“There's a lot of transportation money that flows into the city of Huntsville and the North Alabama region. So it's important for the public to feel like they're invested in how those dollars are getting spent and how we're prioritizing projects,” explained Dennis Madsen, Manager of Urban & Long Range Planning.

Madsen said those projects include improvements to the Parkway and Research Park Boulevard, completing the Northern Bypass, and enhancements to the interchanges at Research Park, as well as the I-565 and Memorial Parkway interchange.
The city wants to ensure that as more jobs and industry are added to the economy, that the infrastructure is ready and able to meet the continued growth.

“These are the ones that really carry a lot of traffic. If you look at the job announcements and see how many jobs are coming to Huntsville, we recognize how the population is going to continue to increase, we know we need to be well in front of road design and planning and implementation to make sure that we accommodate those folks,” Madsen said.
