Huntsville South is hosting a Health Care Symposium to be held at Grissom High School Auditorium January 13, 2014,
7:00 – 8:45 PM and the public is invited to attend. This symposium will feature presentations by the administrators of both local hospitals, a representative of Blue Cross Blue Shield, a regulatory compliance attorney and a private practice physician. The symposium will address the health care delivery system operating within the new Affordable
Health Care law. Each panel member will make a short presentation, followed by questions and answers by the public.
David Spillers, CEO of Huntsville Hospital since 2006 and Pam Hudson, MD, CEO of Crestwood Medical Center, the first MD to manage the hospital, will address the effect of the new law on the delivery of services from the hospital’s stand point. Representing Blue Cross Blue Shield will be Michael Patterson, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. His
presentation will be the insurance industry and their attempt to navigate under the new law. Fred Coffey, Jr. with Sirote Law Firm, will discuss compliance regulations. Finally, John Sowell, MD, with a private practice in Huntsville since 1994, will speak to the issues that confront the private medical practice and their relationship with patients in the future.
The public is asked to show up around 6:30 in order to put questions to the panel in writing which will be presented by the moderator.
