Saving Way Thrift Store - update

4/16/2020

The Saving Way has four thrift stores, including one on South Memorial Parkway just south of Weatherly.  The stores provide a large percentage of support for His Way, a residential recovery center for men battling alcohol and drug addiction.  His Way remains open during this time, with about 30 men living onsite.  The stores are currently closed to shoppers, but have started doing online sales at their website, thesavingway.org/shop in order to try and make up for some of the loss of income.  They are also still accepting donations, so keep doing your spring cleaning! Donations can be taken to their University Drive store (two doors down from Red Lobster), Monday through Friday between 8:00-2:00.  Or you can call 256-503-4404 to schedule a pick-up from your porch or driveway!

THANK YOU QUILTERS OF HUNTSVILLE, MADISON AND ATHENS!!!

Huntsville South Civic Association would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to the Heritage Quilters of Huntsville.  The Heritage Quilters were approached by the Madison Medical Foundation to help make masks for doctors, health care workers and Huntsville Hospital.  They have several quilters that have been sewing masks and as of April 9th, they have made over 900 masks, isolation gowns and headbands for the medical field.  The quilt guilds in the area joined together from Huntsville, Madison and Athens to make these very much needed items for the community and for the Medical community in our area.

A SOUTH HUNTSVILLE LADY DOING GOOD FOR LOCAL HOSPITALS PERSONNEL

4/6/2020

A SOUTH HUNTSVILLE LADY DOING GOOD FOR LOCAL HOSPITALS PERSONNEL

Rhoda Johnson, a lifelong quilter, saw a recent need for masks at our local hospitals due to the Coronavirus.  As of early April, Rhoda has made over 350 masks from a wide variety of material with beautiful and fun designs and has delivered them to our local hospitals.  She has also made over 100 masks for people wanting one for themselves.  Rhoda plans to continue cutting out more masks as long as she can and while there is still a need.
She also wants to give a shout out to her quilt guild, Huntsville Heritage Quilt Guild.  They too are making and sending masks to the local hospitals.

Please visit Rhoda’s website at www.quiltsbyrhoda.com to enjoy her craftsmanship.

JOB WELL DONE RHODA!  THANK YOU!
